Stop using dollar store gift bags for wine
They’ timberland uk ve sold their wine gift boxes at trade shows, festivals, online and all over. Some orders request sassy phrases like “Kiss my Shiraz” and others simply capture a special moment with words of gratitude, congratulations, commemoration or holiday spirit.
“We were travelling around, all over Ontario, and visiting boutique shops,” Heaton recalled. “And I told Mark, ‘You know, there’s nothing to put a wine bottle in to give as a gift.'”
A skilled carpenter with 30 years’ experience, Currie explored the challenge and together they devised a plan.
Heaton recalls thinking as their efforts have progressed, “This could be a great retirement gig.”
They saw the potential months ago when they introduced their product with their fledgling business, Wine’ot Box It, barely four days old. They displayed their wooden gift boxes at a Windsor wine and food show.
“The response was overwhelming,” Heaton said. People saw the slogans on the boxes, flocked to the booth and their business went “gangbusters.”
The boxes are more solid and sturdy than other timberland uk s that are cheaply made with lower grade wood and construction. Currie uses custom pine wood from Quebec that reflects his craftsmanship.
A special machine translates the custom ordered designs, phrases and words from computer to wood. An inner layer of the wood is dark to help set off the design against the lighter surface.
“We’re hoping to do more corporate logos,” Currie said.
Customers tell Heaton and Currie their boxes are unlike anything they’ve seen before. The bonus for Heaton and Currie is travelling to festivals and trade shows and meeting all kinds of people who enjoy their wine box gifts.
They say the wine boxes are especially ideal for family and friends who apprec timberland uk iate wine and are difficult to buy for, Heaton said.
“We’ve been the hit of shows, with the one gift that everyone’s talked about.”
Their boxes cost $25 for a single size big enough for a 750 mL or 26 oz. bottle of spirits, beverage, whatever, Currie said.
A double box that holds two bottles costs $40.
Currie makes each box by hand.
“No staples, just glue,” he maintains.
