EAST HARTFORD According to a news release from the town, Acting Director of Public Works Timothy Bockus said timberlands the pickup of debris from the October storm is now complete and leaf vacuuming is continuing.
Beginning on Dec. 1, residents with a bulky waste permit can bring brush to the transfer station at Ecology Drive or arrange for a pickup. Brush must be cut into 3 foot sections and be limited to 1 inch in diameter. It also must be bundled.
Curbside vacuuming has begun in the north side of town and will proceed in a counter clockwise fashion, weather permitting. The town is urging residents to bag leaves in brown paper biodegradable bags. Bags will be picked up weekly on the resident’s normal trash pickup day.
“The use of bags is strongly urged and sn timberlands owfall may cause the additional suspension of vacuuming leaves until spring,” according to the release. “Residents must have all of their bagged leaves at curbside by Dec. 12 to ensure collection.
